Hello! I’m Gabby. Welcome to Literature Lynx.
I want to create a safe space where people can share their thoughts, feelings and advice on everything book related. I’m a firm believer that words matter, and that they have the power to create enormous change.
Literature is often an escape from reality. Sometimes we all need a break from our day to day lives, but to steal a cliché, literature also lets you walk a mile in someone else’s shoes. Reading a book, and immersing yourself in someone else’s experience gives a totally different perspective than any other form of media. Let’s use this perspective to build a more compassionate and tolerant world. Let’s learn to love people, places and beliefs unfamiliar to us. Let’s all agree that we each have things to learn.
I’ve been in love with reading and the written word for my entire life. In elementary school, the book fair was the best day of the school year. Book order deliveries were more cause for celebration than track and field day. I only wanted to go outside if I could take a book, or pretend that I was a character I’d read about. As an adult I followed that passion and I’ve spent the past few years working in a library. I’m sad to report that librarians don’t get to spend their work time reading, but you do get first pick of the new arrivals!
I constantly bounce between genres and I make it a point to push myself out of my reading comfort zone. I lean towards urban fantasy and cozy mysteries, but I’m not picky. I’m learning to appreciate non-fiction, but it’s been a bit of a personal battle.
I’m looking forward to sharing my literature life with you, and hoping that you’ll share the love.
