July 2017 Wrap-Up

July 2017 Wrap-Up

Another month gone…

Requested reviews were the theme in July (6 out of 7 reviews this month were requested by the authors). I’m still not as caught up as I’d like to be, but progress is more important than perfection, right? (Or something…?)

Reviews

The Execution by Sharon Cramer

Julia Dream by Fabia Scali-Warner

The Itching Scars by Mohy Omar

Marbles by Ellen Forney

Fatemarked by David Estes

A Passport to a Nation of Talking Slugs by Andrew Kozma

Karma by Cynthia Vespia

There were a lot of good books this month. I think my favorite was ‘Fatemarked,’ although they were all interesting. Reading requested reviews is truly a privilege. These authors are just as talented as the NYT Bestsellers (or even more so, in my opinion) but their books simply don’t have as much exposure. Self publishing gives writers so much more freedom. That isn’t always a good thing, but I feel like I’ve seen way more hits than misses.

My Favorite Chapter Books– here are a few of my favorite middle grade chapter books, that I still love to read as an adult.

Coming Soon

I have a few more books to get through, and then I’ll start accepting review requests again. In the meantime, keep an eye out for more graphic novel reviews, and (hopefully) some more reading resource lists.

I’d love to hear from you guys. What would you like to see? What are your favorite types of posts? I’m open to feedback, so share your thoughts!

Happy reading.
