June 2017 Wrap-Up

June 2017 Wrap-Up

In last month’s wrap-up, I said that I would wing it in June. Winging it isn’t my strong suit. I’m more of a micro-managing perfectionist.

So I was expecting this month to be a bit of a mess. In fact, the opposite happened. I found it easier to keep up with my blog when I didn’t feel so much pressure to stick to my schedule. The downside is that I’m getting way behind on requested reviews. I’m still trying to find my happy medium when it comes to blogging.

June was LGBTQ+ Pride Month (no matter what Trump says or doesn’t say) and pertinent reviews are marked with an *.

Shadow Fall by Seressia Glass

Blood Flow by David A. Hill Jr.*

Adrian and the Tree of Secrets by Hubert*

Habibi by Craig Thompson

Intro to Alien Invasion by King and Poirier*

Royal Bastards by Andrew Shvarts

Blood Flow and Royal Bastards are my favorites this month. I highly recommend both of them, but please be sure to check my sensitive content warnings first. Adrian and the Tree of Secrets was extremely upsetting to me. I try not to post 100% negative reviews but I felt compelled to talk about this one. So overall, it was a dramatic mix of highs and lows.

Reading Resources/Book Lists

LGBTQ+ Graphic Novels– I shared a few titles that I’ve added to my TBR list. I also included links to other resources, author lists and relevant reviews.

Library Haul– here’s my thought process while I’m at the library.

Author Chat with David A. Hill Jr– David and I talk about social issues and being a “dirtbag leftist,” among other things. It’s a bit long, but well worth it.

Coming Soon

I’m going to do my best to focus on requested reviews next month. Promoting new and independent authors has been really awesome. Hopefully I get my backlog under control and I can begin accepting requests again. We’ll see…
